Digimarc

Does anyone use digimarc with MediaBin? Anybody know how to automate the watermarking process through MediaBin?
Thanks.

If you had a standalone app to apply a Digimarc watermark, one could use the MediaBin Hot Folder Editor application to write a custom script that would watermark an asset prior to ingest. The most seamless way to incorporate Digimarc would be the production of a custom primitive that could be added in the usual way to a MediaBin task. If you send the suggestion to Support it can be added as a feature request.

How would one produce a custom primitive? I can't seem to find that in the documentation.
Thanks.

A MediaBin "primitive" is code that provides some form of asset handling, either: decoder, encoder or transformer. We don't currently offer an SDK for MediaBin primitive development - these are all done internally for the time being.
As for watermarking, most current MediaBin users are more interested in applying "visible" watermarks to image assets rather than the digimarc sort. This can be accomplished by creating a task that uses the (Photoshop) layer replacer or text layer adder transform primitives.
Lyman's assertion that a Digimarc watermark would best be applied using a custom primitive is correct (Lyman is pretty much always correct) - ideally to outgoing image renditions and never to the incoming original image asset.
Specifically with regard to Digimarc, we've had customer interest in the past but apparently not with a sufficient level of enthusiasm or urgency to get it on the official "to-do" list.
