Adding meta tag to home page

Hi All,

I want to add a specific meta tag to only the home page. Is there a way to edit the source code for the page without doing it in a component?

The tag I want to add is in the head and is:

meta name="verify-v1" content="QDNSzJ1pBcFqD4yOg/L4Tb6Ucp5Fx/kH5H38gHSUO7I="

Using TeamSite 6.7.2 on Solaris 10.

Could you please be more clear on what you're trying to achieve?

Is the homepage that you're talking is a form generated one? If so, you can add the custom tag that you want in the head section of your tpl and re-generate the page.

This is nothing challenging. The meta code wht you are trying to add is for Google submission.
If your homepage is generated by presentation template, please add this code, regenerate your homepage and submit the same.
That's all you are done with it and verify your website in Google webmaster.

You are correct, the fixed layout template only needed to be modified.

Well you said that you are not using FAL (fixed area layout) but you did not mention what are you using? Is it FP? SP? LS or no LS? Product version?

We are using SP with LS 3.1.basically we make components and templates and put them on page,then these pages are generated as HTML.in that HTML souce , we need a meta tag.

Since you are using SP only, your best bet is going to be update the page type XSL. I'd recommend creating a custom page type based on one of the OOTB page type. This is documented in the SP Dev guide.
