CGI task using Java Servlet or JSP

Hello,
I would like to call Java or JSP in my CGI task. I know that I can do that by creating a Servlet or JSP program in content_center/customer_src directory and build the web application. Is it the right approach ?

However from the documentation I am seeing that the "CGI program must be installed in httpd/iw-bin" directory. I don't know how the Servlet or JSP will be placed in "httpd/iw-bin" directory. Is that statement in the documentation applies to languages other than Java ?

My guess is yes that is what the document is probably implying. In any case you are on the right track. Typically actual CGI scripts go under the httpd/iw-bin directory. General practice for TS related custom JSP/ Java code is to place it under content_center/customer_src.

This statement is basically for Perl and related IWOV CGI Wrappers. Both FormsPublisher and iwwebd (eg GUI, Menus, and
whatnot) have Apache configured to permit CGI programs from this Directory.

You can perhaps create your own JVM CGI wrapper to run from there. Then, as long as your Class/JARs follow CGI Protocol
you'll be Ok. This is however a hack. Supported mechanism for Java is to "extend" IWOV App with your own custom Servlets.

UI customization is the best and straight forward approach.
However please make a note of JAR files you are trying to place in content_center/customer_src.
Document says there are list of files that shouldn't be place (which I didn't notice and resulted server crashing frequently)

How do you actually call the servlet? I am looking at the customer_samples and it looks like it is calling the current_user.jsp file located under customer_samples_src/web/customer_samples instead of the actual Servlet itself.

According to the ui_customs.xml file, the /showcurrentuser url is suppose to point to the CurrentUserServlet, but there doesn't seem to be a matching /showcurrentuser url anywhere. When you hover the mouse over the Current User tab, it points to a tab_id customers.customer_samples.tab_workflow.user.link. Where can I find the file that references this?

to call a servlet, put your source code under custom_src/src/com/.../showcurrentuse.java, updated web.xml, then run make_toolkit. and you will be able to call the servlet using url /iw-cc/showcurrentuse
i tried following the documentation /showcurrentuse didnt work but /iw-cc/showcurrentuse works.
