Index and event subsystem services not automatically starting after server restart

If I allow those services that are designated to start automatically after a server restart to do so inevitably the index service does not start on my production server and periodically the event subsystem AND the index services do not start on my development server. Any thoughts on why these services don't/may not start automatically after a server restart?

They need to be set up in control panel to start after the DB.

There are a couple thread on this, search for them. You wil lneed to edit the registry to make 2 thing dependent on a third

If they don't start, there's usually an error in one of the log files. That's where I would start.

Which DB are you using for the event subsystem? Derby? DB2? Something else? Is the DB on its own server or the same server? Are your configurations different between prod and dev servers? Like a dev server having the DB on the same box, but the prod server pointing to another box?

Also, are you running the Search index service on the same server as TeamSite?
