Restore deleted files in Teamsite

Hi,

We are using TS 6.7.2 SP1 (Linux), i came across a feature in the view menu of Teamsite "All and Deleted Files".

This feature will restore the files deleted from workarea which is submitted to STAGING.

I had the understanding that if a file is deleted from workarea and submitted to STAGING, it gets permannently deleted from Teamsite, now with this feature i can restore the file which was submitted to STAGING.

I have the following questions:
Is the restore feature introduced with the new release?
How do i delete a file permanently from Teamsite?

You had the wrong understanding. When a [versioned] file is deleted from a workarea and the deletion is submitted - the file is removed from staging, but still may exist and be referenced by other workareas, or [more likely] editions.

As such, if the file does still exist in the backing store, but is not currently active in the staging area - viewing "all and deleted" files allows you to restore those files to the workarea, and if you then submit them from the workarea - the file will again exist in the staging area.

To delete a file completely - you would need to delete the file in the workarea, submit the deletion to staging, do a Get Latest on all other workareas on the branch (if there are other workareas) and then delete all the editions on the branch which include a reference to that file (this, of course, means that you will be deleting editions that contain references to files you want to keep too).

Alternatively, you can delete the branch - which will delete the file completely from TS - along with all the other files in the branch....
