folder

many of our product section website including news / press releases have 2 sub-folder locations of the same files, like local / shared, what is the exact purpose of these, does it meant certain files are meant not to be shared.
can someone throw some light

only the person who created those folders can answer that question. I would ask the person who originally set up the directory structure.
