GUI for User Admin (useradd issue)

Hi There,

I have a requirement to do the User Administration via GUI within TeamSite.

While writing the User Add module, in the perl script I executed 'useradd' UNIX command, I am getting get ‘UX: /usr/sbin/useradd: ERROR: Permission denied.’ error and I am sure I will get similar issue when I remove user using 'userdel' UNIX command.

I know both the commands are owner by root and belong to sys group. Can someone help how to run these commands as non-root user?

Please note that the User who administrates this module will not be a root user and will not be added to sys group.

Well you have to use sudo to kick that off.

you could setuid the script (as another option) but that opens up other issues.

Sounds like this CGI adds the user to /etc/passwd first.

You cannot do it without sudo or setuid on a CGI.

You must be root to add a user. End of discussion.

Tell the admins that they will need to add users and then you can add them to TeamSite. No other way around it.

Otherwise use LDAP.
