Just a query ,it is possible to generate an xml with out using a tpl . i.e using java script or jsp

No, You cannot generate the output file(any type) using Java Script/JSP as presentation layer. If you use the Teamsite version > 6.5 then write XSLT presentaion file to generate the output XML file.

Your question is somewhat unclear.

As already noted, you can use XSLT templating instead of TPL.

Alternatively, you can use FormAPI JS to run a callout or Ajax or callServer and execute anything
you want on the Server side. Your code then can parse DCR, generate XML, assign Meta Data and whatnot.
Tpl need not apply.

By the same token, if you code "XML generating" JSP you can call it through callout and once
again do what you want.

If your question was "Is there a magic JS/JSP in TS to read my mind and generate XML that I want?" the
answer is no, certainly not. One way or another you'd have to code for it.
