Look at the one of the OOTB social components -- they have "AJAX"y behavior. Try to understand that and extract whatever you need :-)!

As per your suggestion i have seen Polling.component which is one of OOTB social component. But i could not find the location of java class used in this component. The used java class is "com.interwoven.livesite.component.foundation.external.usergeneratedcontent.polling.PollingController".

It should be under the zip file in $iw-home/install/livesite/docs folder

I believe he is not able to locate the actual Java class. That is packaged up as part of foundation.jar file. You need to install foundation SPAR if you haven't done so already. Once that SPAR is installed it'll extract and place the foundation.jar in the right location for you. You'll have to copy that JAR file over to LiveSite Runtime instance(s) as well.
