idx files under Search\temp\idx folder

Hi,

I noticed there are a lot of files under Search\temp\idx folder, they are all named as iwovxxxxxxxidx, and pretty big, not sure what these files are used for, and if it is safe to remove them. Can someone please let me know? Thanks very much.

Are they "safe" to remove ?

Well, it won't hurt. It wont crash your machine, so if that is a definition of safe, then yes.

If your definition is, will search work correctly? Then the answer is likely no it is not safe. One might argue that search doesn't work correctly anyway, so there is that to consider.

If you remove them, the indexer will remake them when the system is recycled.

It is not consistent. How many threads do you see about results not being returned (accurately) ?
