Fixed layout different for Sitepublisher edit mode to preview and runtime

I've not come across anything in the docs that covers this issue.

I discovered that the edit window in SitePublisher uses a different fixed layout. I have a component that calls an external that injects content into the <head> area using $PAGE_SCOPE token. The content is a link to the core stylesheet.

This is fine for SP preview and LSDS runtime but on edit the content is stylesheet is not loading and is not in the output.

After digging around I found the file admin.edit.fixed-layout-page.xsl I added $PAGE_SCOPE but it didnt seem to work as expected.

Does anyone know if you can get PAGE_SCOPE to work in edit mode?

I've come across a similar issue. The header injection won't happen because edit mode loads each component dynamically via AJAX (and thus they effectively load in separate frames, so even request.attributes can't be shared). Our solution was to register a .js file in the default.site which has an if(iseditmode) check and then adds <link> elements to the <head> dynamically. "iseditmode" is basically a regex against window.location. It's hacky, but it works.

Yes decided to add CSS in default.site and in the LS fixed layout xsl check for attribute IsSiteResource on each psge Resource. If true ignore the file otherwise include it as that will be a page asset.

This means the CSS is loaded in edit mode but in preview the head inject components functions as expected.
