Calling Output servlet for PDF report on a popup window brings up parameterpage in IE

In my java based web application (Tomcat 5.5, JDK 1.5) I am invoking BIRT PDF report (popping up a new window) by submitting all the form data (some in the controls such as Text and rest in the hidden form fields) to the BIRT output servlet. The PDF report properly shows up straight away with out the parameter page showing up as all the mandatory report parameters are supplied.

Now when I submit the same form once again (by clicking on the submit button with out making any other changes), this time the parameter page shows up even though all the report parameter data were passed just like the first time.

But the above behavior is not there had I closed the pop-up window before clicking the submit button.

The above issue is present in IE only (both IE6 and IE7). In fire fox it is not there.
