In this - Jason W. says "BIRT 2.3.1 which will be released later this month now supplies a solution to this problem." - the problem being the filename just says iv.extension (xls, pdf, etc) 
 
I'm wondering if this was implemented - and how to activate it? We are running BIRT 2.3.2 and when we export data from reports it simply names the file iv.extension 
 
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Al,
This article is for customizing the open source BIRT viewer sample web application.
If you are using iServer (Express) you can specify the output folder location, document name and output type when you schedule the report to run.

Thanks for the info. The problem though is when the data is exported after an ad-hoc report has been run.

So:

Step 1: Run report as a user
Step 2: Export XLS from IV
Step 3: The viewer downloads exported content as IV.XLS

It's the filename in Step 3 that I was looking to change, not the content that is run from a scheduled report.

This feature is not available in the current implementation. There is an enhancement request filed on this topic.

One last question - this article: <a class='bbc_url' href='http://birtworld.blogspot.com/2008/09/naming-exported-files-from-birt.html'>BIRT World: Naming Exported files from the BIRT WebViewer</a> Is this a stop-gap solution that will work for us or this is only (specifically) for the BIRT open-source viewer?
