Sorting on grand total in a crosstab, is it possible?
LizM
Hi,
I've created a crosstab and can sort the groups fine (column and row)
I have a grand total on the column area all working fine
I'd like to sort on this grand total so that the rows with the largest totals are shown first, is this possible?
many thanks!

Hi LizM,
Yes, it is possible to sort on a derived total in the crosstab. In your case, to set this up, first double-click your grand total field so you can see it's column binding name. In my quick test, my grand total field was called ORDERNUMBER_Group1/STATUS for example.
After you know the name, select the entire crosstab by selecting its tab, then look for the Sorting tab in the Property Editor. Once there, press the Add button, select the Group level that corresponds to your ROW Grouping, then select the grand_total column binding you looked up earlier. Select descending for the sort order.
That should do it, the crosstab will sort itself based on the rows with the highest totals.

Thanks Virgil, that worked great.
Much appreciated :-)
