Updating MYSQL from BIRT

I guess this going to need java or javascript in the solution.
I would like to have a Birt report where users input information in a series of parameters and then show the parameters on a report which is the easy part.
What I want to do is on a render event is that the input parameters are written away to an MYSQL file.
I would like to do this in BIRT rather than use products like IRON SPEED to have a user enter data to a MYSQL table.
Has anyone got any ideas on this please.
