Use rtf-emitter with php/javabridge

Hello, 
 
I want to export a Report as rewritable RTF-File. After some researches in the forum I found the Tribix rtf emitter (<a class='bbc_url' href='http://sourceforge.net/projects/tribix/)'>http://sourceforge.net/projects/tribix/)</a>, copied the files and without any problems the export from Birt runs. 
 
But how can I use this emitter with the php/javabridge (<a class='bbc_url' href='http://php-java-bridge.sourceforge.net/pjb/)?'>http://php-java-bridge.sourceforge.net/pjb/)?</a> Which modification is required to export an rtf-report with the php/javabridge?

It shows using the bridge with BIRT 2.3.2. It also explains how to update it. Essesntially you will need to download the war, extract it, and add the rtf emitter to the plugins directory of the war file, and rewar and deploy. You should not have to do anything else.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Unfortunately I don’t get the birt-function running after the update. As in your article “Calling BIRT From PHP” described I do the following steps: 
 
1.) I download and extracted the attached war-file 
2.) I created a new dynamic web project in eclipse and imported the content of the extracted war file 
3.) I deleted the files in the WEB-INF/lib-directory and imported the files from the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEnginelib-directory. 
4.) I deleted the WEB-INFplatformconfiguration-directory, created a new configuration-directory an imported the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEngineconfiguration-directory 
5.) I deleted the WEB-INFplatformplugins-directory, created a new plugins-directory an imported the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEngineplugins-directory 
6.) At last I rebuild the war-file with the export-function from eclipse an copied the war-file to my local Tomcat-webapps-directory. 
 
Could you please explain me a little more detailed the following part from your article “Calling BIRT From PHP”: 
 
Depending on the version of BIRT you use you may need to rebuild the birtEngine.jar which contains the BirtEngine.class. The source is in the jar. You may also need to update the examples. 
 
How can I rebuild the birtEngine.jar-File and which modifications I have to do in the BirtEngine.class? And which modifications I have to do to get the examples run? 
 
In my case I get the following error when calling an birt-example after the update:

Hello,

with the following steps I get the birt-function running with the updated birt-version and the rtf-emitter:

1.) I download the attached war-file.
2.) I opened the war-file with eclipse.
3.) I imported the files from the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEnginelib-directory to the WEB-INF/lib-directory.
4.) I deleted the WEB-INFplatformconfiguration-directory, created a new configuration-directory an imported the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEngineconfiguration-directory
5.) I deleted the WEB-INFplatformplugins-directory, created a new plugins-directory an imported the birt-runtime-2_5_1ReportEngineplugins-directory
6.) I added the mysql-jdbc-driver and the rtf-emitter into the corresponding directory.
7.) At last I rebuild the war-file with the export-function from eclipse and copied the war-file to my local Tomcat-webapps-directory.
8.) Then I copied the by tomcat extracted directory to my htdocs-directory.

With this steps it works on my local machine. But one thing is strange: When I call the example over the tomcat (localhost:8080/JavaBridge) I get an CGI/Fast CGI Error. When I call the copied directory in the htdocs it runs without any problems. Do you have any idea for this?

And one more note: The problem with the image-size in the pdf-output (Posting: Problem with Image-Size in PDF with PHP/JavaBridge) is solved with the birt-update.

Did you replace the 2.3.1 jars with with the 2.5.1 jars?

That is correct. Just make sure the configuration directory starts empty. Did you over write the application with the same name? I am wondering if this may be a cache issue. Can you post the error you are getting?

I am relatively sure that I startet with an empty configuration-directory. That’s why I deleted the directory and created an empty one. Yes – I over write the applications with the same name in the import.

I even get the error when I'm calling the javabridge-index-page which has birt-call or java-include.

I just tried this with Tomcat 5.5 and BIRT 2.5.1 and had no issues. Verify that you deleted all the jars in the lib folder except these:

birtEngine.jar
JavaBridge.jar
jaxrpc.jar
lucene.jar
php-script.jar
php-servlet.jar
script-api.jar

Then copy the 2.5.1 libs into the folder.
