Need to export directly to Microsoft Office Excel 2007
MikeInNH
Hi,
I am trying to output to Excel 2007. However, I get a message informing me that "The file you are trying to open, 'frameset.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Doyou want to open the file now?". See attachment.
Can I somehow avoid this message and go directly into excel 2007?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi Mike,
I'm guessing this is because the standard XLS output isn't true binary-XLS output, it's an XML-XLS output. You might try using the Tribix XLS emitter to see if that gets rid of the warning.

Thanks for the response. Another quick question.
How does the Tribix XLS emitter get installed onto a J2EE Web application server?
Our reports are deployed to a server and not to an eclipse workbench.
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Mike,
You're still deploying the web viewer though, correct? You should be able to replace the XLS emitter plugin in either the deployed viewer or report engine.

Hi Mike,
Actuate BIRT in version 11 has a new Excel emitter that generates true xls files. Check out the following blog to learn about features that it offers:

You can download Actuate 11 from here:
