validation-regex checking for ampersand...

Hello all! I seem to not be able to define a validation-regex with an ampersand in it. I have tried the follwoing syntax:

....item junk...
<text validation-regex="^[A-Za-z0-9\&]+$" />
...close item junk...

alternatively I've tried replacing \& with \x27.

If I remove the \& the DCT works just fine. So it is not a syntax error with the DCT. Any assistance will greatly be appreciated.

validation-regex="^[A-Za-z0-9\&]+$

If you can allow underscores...

validation-regex="^[\w\&]+$"
