onRender for page number autotext element

How do I access the value of an autotext element for page number from its onRender event? Is it possible to get this value and store it in a variable for use in another element's onRender event?

this.text looks like it's probably the way to grab the value.

Can you explain a little more about what you're trying to do? Maybe I can suggest something to help.

That doesn't seem to do it.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the "reset page number on group" thing. I have a HashMap that contains the page number wihtin the group, but to access it, I need the current page number. The current page number is used as part of the key to HashMap.
