Grouping header in table - alternate detail row highlights should apply

I have applied a grouping to a table where the group header is placed in the same row as the detail row. An alternating highlight is applied to the associated rows. However, the highlights do not "cascade" to the group header. The group header stands out (the group header cells are merged and span the height of the grouped detail rows). Refer to attached image (group_heading_with_detail_highlight.jpg).

Is it possible to apply the highlight to the group heading cell as well? Refer to required_output.jpg for look and feel.

Take a look at the attached report. It was made in 2.6.1. Rather than using the "drop" feature to get the group header into the detail section, I deleted the group header and footer and put the group field down into the detail row itself and used the "suppress duplicates" option and the highlighting works as in your second image.
