Arranging labels horizontally
Srividya Sharma
Hi
I am trying to arrange the labels horizontally within a grid cell.
They get arranged one below the other in the cell. ( say, 4 labels)
I am able to arrange them horizontally by placing them in a grid (say, with 4 columns).
The problem with that is, the inner grid takes up some space above and below.
I want to avoid this.
Let me summarize the problem again:
1. There is a grid (name: OuterGrid) with 2 columns, several rows.
2. The first column has only one big label. I place this within the cell of OuterGrid.
3. Now in the second column, I want to place 4 labels horizontally aligned.
How do I achieve this?
I hope I have made myself clear.
Thank you in advance,
Srividya Sharma

Hi Srividya,
Not sure though, you can try playing with margins for the label.

Thanks Arpan. Yes, there were margins of 1 point for the labels. Correcting this, solved the problem.

In newer version of BIRT, you can put multiple labels in the same cell. Then, if you go to the cell in your outline view, you can set the Inline property. This will display all the labels in the cell inline instead of on new lines.

Thank you John. I will keep that in mind and make the changes when we upgrade to BIRT > 2.3
