Is it possible to hide the series palette in Line Chart?
Jliu
I'm building a line chart for an index report. I don't want the chart show the series palettes, but only the lines connecting the palettes. Is it possible? The default palette is too big for my chart and doesn't look good on it. Or, is it possible to make it smaller size?
thanks!
Jane

Hi Jane,
Are you talking about the markers? If so, if you go to the "value series" section in the chart editor and click on the "markers" button at the bottom, there is a drop down to choose the marker shape. If you select the drop down, you'll see that there is a setting for the visibility of the marker as well as a size setting. Let me know if this is what you are asking.

thanks for answer my question, Michael. I don't think it's the marker I'm talking about. I'm attaching a screenshot of my chart here. You can see there're some small squares on the line chart. that's what I want to hide. I know those indicate values, but I don't want those showing on chart. Is there a way of hiding it?
thanks!

BTW. Do you know where I can download Actuate JSAPI? I downloaded the open source version of Eclipse BIRT Report Designer All-in-One, but cannot find it there. What I need is being able to embed BIRT chart in my JSP page, and I saw it from a demo that with JSAPI, this can be done easily. I'm open to purchase the commercial version. But don't know which version I need.
Is this one the right thing to go with?

Hi Jane,
The marker is the square in your chart. If you do what I said in the first post, you should get rid of those. As for the Actuate JSAPI, it's a part of the Actuate commercial version of BIRT which also has flash charts/object. You can find more info on it on the product page. As for embedding a report or part of a report in a JSP page, you should be able to use the tag library to do that.

Thanks, Michael! Both of your suggestions (the marker and the tag-lib) worked well! You are a real BIRT Guru!

Not a problem! Glad to help!

Hi Michael,
One follow up question regarding embedding the chart in a JSP page. I know there's a "showToolBar" option to turn on and off the toolbar. But is there any more detailed option to turn on/off each button in toolbar? For example, if I know want export options but not others, how do I do it?
thanks!

Jane,
You can go into the actual JSP pages for the viewer and find the toolbar icons and remove the ones you don't want.
Jliu
Is there a generated JSP file? I'm looking for a way to dynamically turn on/off the toolbar icons, is there a way?

No, I'm pretty sure you either have them or don't have them. I could be wrong though.
