Hi leilaw,
Sorry for the delay in response. Do you think you could show an example of what you're talking about to help me understand exactly what you're wanting?

Hi Michael,
I have another issue now, which I have attached the sample also.
I this report service locations are not static and are retrived from database. the number of service locations and its tales depends on the data in database. I need to know is there any way to develop such a report in birt design?
would you please guide me?
Thank you,
Regards,
Leila.

Hi Leila,
If the columns are all the same for all tables, it looks like you could just create a grouped outer table by service location and then embed a table from another dataSet and bind them using a filter or using dataSet parameter binding.

Hi William,

can you please explain me in detail how to bind tables and crosstabs ? I have attached a file in my current format.
Now the service location is in the left hand side and i need it to be displayed in the TOP
Do you mean you need it at the top as the "title" or you want location at the top of the crosstab?
Let me know.

not as the title. The location should be at the top of each category. So it will have a layout specified in the .doc file...

Oh, you're talking about Leila's file above. This can be done how I said in the post following where the file was attached. If you create a list or table that consists of just the location, group it, and embed the detail table within the group, you can use filters or dataSet parameter binding to limit the detail data to the outer group value.

Hi,

I have a PIE CHART and BAR CHART in ther report which also have a CROSSTAB in it.
I want the user to be able to choose EITHER PIE CHART OR BAR CHART with or without the CROSSTAB.

How can I attain this ?
Meaning you want the user to be able to choose what they see in the report? Please explain a little more. Did you get the category issue thing done from above?
jeswin24
No, the category is still an issue. I was able to get the location as desired. But only the first location in the database is displayed and the crosstab is repeating the number of times of the service location. and the value inside each crosstab is the same.

It would be really helpfull if you can provide me with an example.
What is your BIRT version? I'll make a quick exmaple.

Hi, I have another question.
Can i make a table or crosstab dynamic... meaning the coloumns displayed should be chosen by the user.
mwilliams
A crosstab would do this automatically if you parameterize your query based on a user input. With a table, you'd have to know the available columns, ask the user to select what they want to see and then use the visibility property to hide the unneeded columns or create your table from scratch in script using the parameter to set up columns and bindings.
mwilliams
Here's a sample report showing how to embed a crosstab in a grouped table and get the correct data in the crosstab using a filter.

Hi, thanks for the reprt.
I am currently trying to make my reports mre interactive. I came across interactive viewer from actuate. i would like to know which viewer is best for interactivity and pricing of those...
mwilliams
Have you seen the product page for Actuate IV? You can download a free trial and see what you think there. I have pasted the link below. It is definitely a good solution for interactivity. I'm not in sales, so I don't know about pricing and all that, so I'll have to figure out the best way for you to go about finding that out and let you know. The "contact us" button in the top right corner might be a good start though.
