column expand with unknown reason

I have two table with same column size (0.25 inches) in design time, when in runtime, one table column expanded (but without expand, the column width can also show all the content as attached), what is the reason?

my birt designer version is 2.2.1

Are you talking about in the second table? Can you recreate your issue with the sample database and attach the report? I'll run it and test on it in your version and in newer versions to see if I see the same thing.
