You might be able to experiment with some scripting and a bar chart to achieve this. There isn't a standard chart type for that in BIRT. I don't know if it'll be possible with scripting on a bar chart, because I haven't tried it, but it could be. If you can't get that to work, you'll probably need to get the source to the bar chart and try to change it to make a new plugin for your chart type. Give it a try with a bar chart and let me know. I'll try to do the same!

Unfortunately, it's looking to me like the bars in a chart can't be set to variable widths. Their width is determined by the UnitSpacing and the size of the chart, not by an actual width property of an individual bar. So, it looks like you'll have to create a new chart type to be able to do this or submit an enhancement for a chart like this.

I'll let you know if I stumble upon something that shows me otherwise.

I don't think anyone was able to come up with a solution to this with a standard BIRT chart. You'll have to create a new chart plugin that does this, most likely. Or at least put in an enhancement request for a chart like this in future versions.
