embedded background image on master page not displaying in PDF output

<p>I am trying to add an embeded background image to a master page. I added the image by going to the outline view, right clicking on embedded images, then added a new embedded image. Then I went to the master page and typed in the image name in the background image property, change the background image type to embeded and put contain for vertical and horizontal settings to resize the image appropriately.</p><p> </p><p>The image displays properly in the layout view and when I view the report as either a word document or a PDF file, however, when I run the report via the API, the background image does not display. </p><p> </p><p>This report has other embedded images, and they display as expected. </p><p> </p><p>Any help would be appreciated.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

<p>What is your BIRT version? Can you attach a simple example that I can run so I can see what you've done?</p>

<p>The BIRT Version I am using is 2.6.2. Unfortunately with the embedded image the report file is just over the 500KB limit. </p><p> </p><p>I have split the report (rptdesign) file into two text files and will attach them to two replys.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

<p>Any update on this issue? I'm experiencing the same in v2.6.2. I'm setting a background image as a watermark dynamically. Work fine for web viewer but not for pdf.</p><p> </p><p>Daron</p>

<p>Nevermind. I got it working by going back to a saved copy prior to adding the dynamic background watermark image. Turns out I had tried to apply it to the grid element instead of the cell.</p>

<p>I would like to know how an embedded image was successfully added as a background image. I can't get it to work and have read in several other threads that background images need to be URLs and sit in the resource folder. If this is now possible, please let me know how. My BIRT RCP version is 4.3.2.</p>

I don't think it's possible. The second poster in this thread was just talking about background images in general, not using embedded images for it. It doesn't work in 4.3.2 for me. You could always log an enhancement request in the bugzilla on eclipse.org/birt/community. You might search for this already being requested and just voting on the request.
