My Birt bar graph gets cut when displayed

<p>I am a newbie to BIRT. Hopefully my query isn't too silly

<p>So I have been really struggling with trying to get my BIRT bar chart display a little cleaner.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>My requirement is to display a daily count for a date range. The max date range can be 6 months. But I have just started off at 3 months.. The bar chart does display data. But it gets really squashed. Refer Report1.png. </p>

<p>Now if I try increasing the width in the layout, it looks cleaner, but my bar graph gets cut when displayed and shows only half the contents. Ideally I would like this display and the bar chart to stretch and occupy the display area of the rest of the screen which it now leaves empty. If I try modifying the height or width, it just modified the width of the individual bar ..but does not increase the width of the complete report result. layout.</p>

<p>Don't use a bar chart if it is a time series a line chart is more appropriate. The whole point of time series is to show a trend which is much easier to read as a line chart.</p>

<p>I think you are trying to a chart with responsive design. I do not know a way to to this with Open Source. We have a way to this with commercial offerings.</p>

<p>hmmno am not trying anything really fancy with the chart. I hope my query is clear. If you had a chance to look at my attachments in teh first post, I just need the chart to use more area on the screen, so that it can fit more values with a good width size , so that it is readable enough for a large number of plotting values.</p>

<p>Just create a larger chart and larger master page. You can also try using auto layout instead of fixed layout (general property of the root of the report).</p>

<p>How do I create a larger chart. I tried changing the plot area, but I dont find many values there. I will try this master report. Haven't really tried that. If you have any example, it would be great !!!!!..but yea thanks anyways for your help. Will try this out.</p>

<p>Thanks a ton Mica. It works !!!! So I added the master page and made sure the layout was auto (it was fixed before). The master page gave a control to widen the report more if I wanted. Thanks !</p>
