Which jsp page has been called when we click on a file or document in the WebTop repository

Which jsp page has been called when we click on a file or document in the WebTop repository and how we will get the document ID & image data of the document so that we can view the file in the Viewer.

Which classes or function required to get the document ID and image data.Is there any way so that we can modify some jsp pages of the WebTop and embedded my Applet Viewer for displaying images or documents.

When we click on the files or document then the then view action is called for example in webtop

the calling is just like

http://<yourservername>:<portnumbet>/webtop/action/view?objectId=09e.....97

objectId id the r_object_id of the documents or files

Can u let me know in which order JSP pages are called when we click on any file in webtop repository.
So that i can manage the calls according to my requirements. I need to configure my application with the webtop viewer.

So let me know the class hierarchy in details so that i can configure my application in webtop.

As said before, when you double-click on a document in Webtop, it launches the view action.

From then on, you can look in the view action XML definition file that will tell you which component/container are used. Then you can look into the component's XML definition files to see which JSP and Classes are used.

Then again, a bit of WDK training and RTFM'ing would also help you get into it much faster.

thanks for the quick response. Actually I am very new to this. So i searched for the view action XML definition. I got a lot of files related to that. And i could not get much more from that files. Can u specifically tell me the name of xml files so that i can approach in proper manner.

Can i get the document/ppt on WDK training or RTFM'ing.

To get the training doc, you'll have to 1st attend the Documentum trainings. I don't think, legally, I can give it away.

RTFM'ing is the abbreviation for Read the Freaking Manual, therefore, there's no RTFM'ing doc available either. Gosh, wouldn't that be cool ?

You can get all the doc you need from the Documentum Download Center, if you/your company are registered ad if you're using the Free Developer deployment that can be found here, then the docs (JavaDocs and WDK PDF's) should be included in it

I'm not in front of a machine right now so I can't double check but if I remember, the view action is defined in ../../webtop/webcomponent/config/actions/dm_sysobject_actions.xml or something like that

hi thanks for the response. I am working according to the information provided by you. Also i am refering the webtop 6.5 reference guide.

I also studying the dm_sysobject_actions.xml file.

Till now i could not get the much more information to start working and embed my application with the webtop.

If you can provide me the much more information on that i will be very thankful to you.

Hi Nitin,

I think the best way to get the object Id of the "clicked" document/image is by extending the "view" action in, this action will be called by default if the user click the document link. You need to create your own action class and create xml file to register your action.

To get your document viewer appeared in the webtop, you need to create your own component, put your applet on the component's jsp file and call your component from your action (you even don't need to write action class for this kind of action).

Still better to use an action to define for example if the action is available depending n the accress right ofthe user to the document or for example if the document is contentless, etc...

Usually, my users are much happier if they can't use the action at all, then they know that there is somethign wrong with what they want to do instead of having the component throwing them generic errors/warning I generate or stack errors
