Uploading large assets into MediaBin on Mac

Hi,

I have been testing out the Mac client for MediaBin (4.5). The asset upload operation seems to be failing when file sizes are greater than 10 MB.
Uploading usch file sizes has not been a problem with the Windows client or the web client.

Any pointers as to what is going wrong? Could the web services interface be a problem. Is there a max file size that can be configured somewhere? I did monitor the messages on the wire, and I didnot find anything strange. I did notice that the final soap message invocation where the data was actually being transferred, there was a fault response from the server to the following effect

There was an exception running the extensions specified in the config file. --> Maximum request length exceeded.

I am listing out the message interaction below. I have cut out the portion where the encoded file data was being sent.

It would also be helpful if some one could share information as to the size of files that have been moved across using the Mac client.

Hello,

There is a setting in the c:\InetPub\wwwroot\MediaBinWebServices\Web.config file where you can adjust this.

Open the file with notepad and edit this line:

<httpRuntime executionTime="300" maxRequestLength="xyz"/>

Set it to about 250000.

Because of some .NET limitations, the largest size file you can upload is based upon the amount of memory allocated to the aspnet_wp.exe process. I have uploaded files about 60MB. It also depends on how much load the web service is experiencing. We will be putting out a release soon that will enable users to upload any size files.

Thanks for your reply.

I did increase this setting and could increase my upload capability by a small amount. I guess the rest of the bottleneck is the memory allocated to the worker process as you have mentioned.

Would you have any idea as to when we could expect the new release that would not cap the upload capability? I am afraid that large file uploads on the Mac is very important to us and it will be a handicap if we are unable to do so. I do understand that we could possibly work around this problem by using hot folders.
