Web CMS (TeamSite)
site created with dreamweaver templates(.dwt) & TS
NathansDIS
Hi All-
We have a new website that we are getting ready to bring into TeamSite 6.1 SP1 on Windows 2000. The site was just redesigned using DreamWeaver and many pages were created using .dwt files (dreamweaver templates.) I have had another teamsite user tell me that using the .dwt files in dreamweaver to create and change a site will lead to you not being able to edit a file directly from teamsite (click the edit link.) Rather, they say that the user will have to edit the file on their local hard drive and then import the file into TeamSite. This is also similar to what the user said they had to do with people using TeamSite and FrontPage 2002. Not being the type of person who would ever design a large website using DreamWeaver or FrontPage, can the experts talk to the limitations of using TeamSite with a website designed with DreamWeaver templates? We don't want this customer to blame teamsite if their .dwt (dreamweaver templates) designed site can't be managed effectively in teamsite. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks!

I haven't used Dreamweaver, but.. if it needs to read/update more than
just that .dwt file from your workarea when you click Edit, you may
need to configure Local File Manager (LaunchPad) to use Direct Edit.
This requires the workarea is shared over Windows (samba, etc),
and accessible.
If you use Direct Edit then the file is not transferred into IWTemp when you
edit it; instead LaunchPad goes directly to the file share you previously
set up, and points the editor to that.
In 6.1 the Direct Edit option is configured from
My Local Files -> Settings -> Remote Setup
Hope that helps..
