Teamsite and Dreamweaver Sync
dtanedo
Greetings! I'm a newbie to Teamsite (still studying the help files) and was hoping to get a quick answer to what is probably an easy question for this group. ...here goes...: Is there a common practice among Teamsite users in efficiently synchronizing Macromedia Dreamweaver files with Teamsite? I am using Teamsite 5.5.2 and Dreamweaver MX. I am able to edit files but only one at a time. I was hoping to use Dreamweaver's synchronize option.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know of any best practice in this area. I think you could map a drive or whatever to your IWSERVER share and use Dreamweaver integration with that, but when you use the share like this it doesn't enforce locking and templating so it's generally better avoided (or always check out in teamsite and ensure non-templated before editing in dreamweaver).

There are a couple ways to work like this.
First as John mentioned, if you mount the WA on your local system, then
you are good to go.
Otherwise find the documentation for the Dreamweaver plugin to create
datacapture templates and presentation templates. That will talk about how
to syncronize DW and TS.
One point, try to keep out of the habit of editing files that have been downloaded
but not checked out. If you start editing local copies (of files that have been
modified by someone else) then you will overwrite their changes.
DW and TS work together in many organizations, this will not be a problem.
