cannot rename in NTFS Share

Hey everybody,

I just migrated over from teamsite 6.1 to teamsite 6.5 and am running into an issue where I cannot rename files or directories in the NTFS file share on windows 2003. I can create move and delete files just fine. I just cannot rename them. When I try to rename them i get an error window that says "Cannot rename "Blah": The parameter incorrect.

I can rename everything just fine in ContentCenter.

Any ideas here?

Nope, Thanks for asking though. I am pretty good at doing dumb stuff like that, but this time I am sure

By chance are you using a name that is already in use ?

If there is a deleted file named foo.html (delete has not been submitted) and I try to
rename ghoti.html to foo.html it will fail

Do a view modified in your WA for grins

Can you rename via DOS ?

How exactly are you trying to rename it in "NTFS file share" ?
i.e. using move command ? or using right click->rename on windows explorer ? something else ?
Do you get the same error either ways ?

This is a known issue and is fixed in the upcoming 6.5SP1release.

Seriously? Only in Win2k3 I would assume. I've spoken with a few IWOV guys and they do confirm that 6.5 SP1 will fix a lot of problems with 2003. A hardened security model does have a downside after all.

Is anyone still experiencing this problem with Windows Server 2003 and TeamSite 6.5.0 Service Pack 1? After mounting the default share, I can create files and folders in a workarea, but cannot rename them. When working on the server itself, logged in under the same user account that I used to remotely mount the default share earlier, I can successfully rename files and folders.

The exact error message from Windows is the same as originally reported: "Cannot rename ****: the parameter is incorrect."

Other possibly related bits of information:
In iw.cfg, branch_security=off and workarea_security=off

When I create folders inside a new workarea, I notice that the 'Read-Only' flag is set in the File Properties. I am unable to clear the flag. The Windows ACLs show that the user has "Full Control" over the workarea and its sub-folders.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Jeremy, I still get this error on 6.5SP1 windows boxes. I haven't tried it on a 6.5SP1 solaris box yet. I had forgotten that the SP was supposed to fix it.
