Hi,
Can we have an amalgamation of teamsite templating with front office briefcase. i.e. is it possible to have the templating feature through front office. Till now it only deals with plain files, can I incorporate the data capature forms in front office

Actually the TS rev really does not matter. There was a feature of TFO in 5.0 that used
MS to generate XML for templates. It was in practice unusable and died a slow death.
There s no new functionality to do this (would be nice, however I am not certain if it
is worth the effort to IW to implmenent.)

The older version (I think pre 5.5.x) of TS/TFO allowed editing DCRs via MS Word.

I know I mentioned it. I even implemented it, but no one that I know of actually used it.

I do think it a nice functionality to ad in, As FO gives me a machanism for offine editing, and when connected to the net i can submit the changes, Today the problem with templating is that ine has to be online to do it rt?
Is there some other option that I can implement the same feature of templating when I am offline and when connected to net, the files can be syncronized with the TS WA.

The following is based on *my* interpretation of what I think *you* are asking.
The way templating basically works is via the templating *engine* which is part of the TeamSite server (at least theoretically, if not in actuality) and as such it would be difficult to perform the same operations off-line without access to the TeamSite server since the server has the component pieces for rendering the DCT as a form, providing the FormAPI processing, saving the data as a DCR, applying EAs to the file to mark it as a DCR (EAs only existing within the TeamSite's virtual file system / backing store) - from this standpoint, the concept of being able to work with templating off-line just doesn't make sense.
One way this could work is to have your own development system on your PC (depending on your organization's license with Interwoven you *may* be entitled to such a license) in which case you could work on your own TeamSite server locally, and then copy your files over the network to your centralized server when you're on-line -- there's no real synchronization process that I know of but with a bit of ingenuity you could probably hack one together.
The other way it can work is to build your own templating engine -- essentially developing your own *product* utilizing configuration files such as the DCT and building your own rendering engine, etc. I don't believe this is a trivial task though.
If memory serves, Jon **** (one of the engineers behind the development of TeamSite templating) once had managed to create a stand-alone templating enviornment of some sort -- but (a) my memory could be faulty here, (b) I don't believe it was ever released as a product, and (c) it was in the 5.x generation at the latest - possibly the 4.x generation - but definitely not the 6.x generation.
I'm not saying the idea isn't a good one - at least from an end-user perspective - but about the only way I can see this happening is via a feature request with Interwoven with either a large number of customers or a good number of "large" customers behind it - and even then, it isn't likely to happen any time soon -- but there's no reason not to file a request for such functionality with support -- it won't do any harm (it may never get followed-up on) - but it **might** lead to something getting developed in the future.

So, the OffSite product doesn't offer the ability to work with Templates off line? I haven't really read about the features of OffSite, but have seen the marketing ads on the website. Perhaps someone from IW knows if OffSite will allow you to do this?

Where have you noticed these ads which claim TFO allowing Templating feature OffLine ? Can you point to those ads you are talking about ?
