setting <browser> url when opening DCR in Edit mod

How do I set the browser url value based on the dcr I am trying to edit?

For eg. if dcr1 has <item name="id"><value>a</value></item> and dcr2 has <item name="id"><value>b</value></item>, when I edit dcr1 the <browser> element next to item name id in the DCT should have the url value set to /templatedata/category/data/a and when I edit dcr2 the <browser> element next to item name id should have the url value set to /templatedata/category/data/b.

The browser element has attributes to define the initial-dir and ceiling-dir - but the point of the matter is the <value> that you talk about should contain the area-relative path information from the first time you set it - so it shouldn't be an issue if you go to edit it again (this was actually an issue in another thread where they specifically *don't* want the area-relative path information stored in the DCR)

If I've misunderstood what you're asking about - perhaps you can provide (attach?) a more concrete example of what you are trying to do and what you are seeing...

Sorry, ... maybe the question wasn't quite clear....

Here's what I need to do. ...
The initial-dir path needs to be determined based on the value in the DCR item.
For eg.the dcr item value can be "image" or "video". When this dcr is opened in edit mode the <browser> element should have the initial-dir path set to /templatedata/category/image/data if dcr item value is image and it shoudl be set to /templatedata/category/video/data if item value is video.
/templatedata/category can be treated as a constant.

It *may* be possible to set (or modify) a browser element's initial-dir and/or ceiling-dir via FormAPI. I suggest looking into it, if you are on TST 5.5.2. Actually FormAPI might also exist for TST5.0.2 (w/ a Service Pack?)...?
