Triggers won't fire anymore
pbenn
Running on Solaris 5.9 TS 6.1 SP2
Problem: ModifyFSE Triggers 'stopped' working this afternoon. The triggers simply do not fire. Strangely, CreateFSE events work fine
Steps taken to investigate problem:
1) Check (via iwlsat) that triggers exist. Delete and Re add them to be sure.
2) Check file/paths in trigger. All correct.
3) Checked permissions on files. All correct
4) Checked iwevents.log. Noted that Modify AND Create FSE events are logged
5) Checked iw.cfg file. log_modifyfse=yes is set and modifyfse_filter is set correctly.
6) Did an iwreset and iw.server stop/start
Nothing around the trigger scripts and config has changed in about 3 days.
Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks,
P.

did you try to run /etc/init.d/iw.local stop and start?

No, I didn't try that ... I only have sudo access to the box and it's not on my list of permitted commands. I will try once I get a hold of the sys admin

IIRC, in 5.5.2 there was no official ModifiyFSE trigger, it was a copy of iw-home/bin/iwatcreate.ipl
(or something like that) called something like iwmodify.ipl (depends on who did the install).
You should also see this process running when you do a ps -ef | grep iwperl
Like I said, that is how it was done in 5.5.2, I am not using the triggers in 6.5, so I do not
know if they are different

Sorry, my bad ... I didn't realise that ModifyFSE triggers only fire when the file differs from the version in STAGING. If the file hasn't been checked in, no ModifyFSE event fires.
Thanks to thread "Trigger for ModifyFSE ?" for pointing this out. Also, check out the KB article for configuring triggers:

BTW - to help in the future, if you did a search in this forum for "ModifyFSE" you would see that I had EXACTLY the same error back in mid September 2003. The answer was there waiting for you.
