Dcr browse window with upload option: Feature req?
RonaldV
Hi all,
I was wondering if others are in need for this feature:
In the dcr-edit windows one can define a browse-button which will allow the user to browse to other files, be it images, pdfs, docs, whatever. However the file MUST be uploaded into teamsite beforehand.
Would it be nice for the user to be able to upload a local file DIRECTLY when while browsing he/she discovers that the file is yet missing? It shouldn't be to hard to enable this.
Shouldn't this be a standard (configurable) feature of the default TST-browse window?
[Yes, you could build that yourself, but since this is handy for every Iwov-customer maybe Iwov should put some effort into it and maintain it afterwards]
Just wondering what others think about this?
Has somebody already filed a FR for this?
Cheers, Ronald

Thanks Greg,
that sounds like a good start.
However it says "It has been tested on TeamSite 5.5.2 on a Windows 2000 Server". That's why I want Iwov to supply and maintain this sort of code. :-)

well, what can I say .. based on my experience, you'd rather modify this script and be happy with what you''ve got.
I myself have a list of nasty stuff that IWOV has to fix.. but the list is growing and nothing is happening. E.g., conflict resolution screen, file browser in DCTs (I wrote my own one to overcome the limitations of the existing one, but still the native functionality does not exist).. etc etc etc

True.
You would think that the engineers at Iwov would be really buzy with other important bug-fixes & enhancements until...
you see that for TS65SP2 they have found time to build a new office-integration that looks good in boardrooms but that no one will ever actually use.
:-)
I'll try a new feature request for this at support.

Hello Greg,
I did what you said but when i click the upload button i get " Internal Server error"
Any ideas what must have gone wrong?
gzevin
I said many things, so I do not know what exactly you had done
however, if you installed that script, there could be many things, staring from a wrong perl path, wrong permissions for the script, etc, etc
So, when you ask again, please be more specific, and provide more information, incuding platforms.versions, etc

I am using Teamsite 6.5 and i am on windows environment.
Well the 2 scripts i loaded under iw-bin are set with all permissions, and the perl path is fine too, to the best of my knowledge.
Can you think of anything else, that would cause this error?
Thank you.

if you are getting an internal server error, then it could be that your perl is incorrect,
maybe with a syntax error
run it from the command line

I have not ran that script myself, I just pointed to it. However I could suggest wrapping that script in the manner that is usually done for CGI script on Windows. Also, the script is for 5.5.2, so the environment variables that it uses, could be different as well. Last thing - I do not like the way HTML tags are coded in the script - I would have cleaned them up as well.
