Looking for a way to populate a read-only table based on selection in another read-only table

Looking for an xCp advanced developer to help with the problem of using a selection in one read-only table to provide some of the input criteria for the adaptor used to populate another read-only table. Is it at all possible to achieve the table refresh without adding an "invoke" button?

Yet it is not clear for what exacly you can't do. Yet you have not show what exacly you try to do.

Any way:

1. Create 1st adaptor, for example dql datasource:

select r_object_id, user_name from dm_user;

2. Place 1st readonly table control, bind it to some variable and use 1st adaptor for it:

Pay attention: this table must be binded to some attribute of Data Model (in our example it is ReadonlyTable1) and one of adaptor's output columnt must be set as 'save data'.

3. Create 2nd adaptor, which must have at least one input parameter. For example:

select r_object_id, user_name, user_address, user_os_name, user_state

from dm_user

where r_object_id='${user_id}'

4. Place 2nd readonly control and use the 2nd adaptor for it. It is not neccesary to bind this table to variable from data model. Use the ReadonlyTable1 attribute as input paramerter for adaptor:

5. Save, validate and install form template. Profit!

Hi!

Every adaptor can have some input parameter. It is doesn't matter it is binded to read-only table or to some else control.

When you bind the adaptor to readonly table you can set the column which value must be saved when user selects a row. In this case this readonly table must be binded to some variable form Data Model. And this variable can be input parameter for another adaptor.

It seems to me you, first you need to some read Forms Builder Guide. After that, please, describe what exactly steps you've done if you meet some issues.

Hey Kostya. I like where you're going with this. One obstacle I see is that read-only table does not have "execute adaptor after input value changes" option as many other widget types. Have you done a lot of adaptors/actions bound to read-only tables? This is one area where I am lacking.

I can't tell I've made a lot of adaptors for read-only tables

But I can tell that I've not met any issue with this. Yes, the read-only table control haven't option 'execute adaptor after input value changes'. But as far as I remember the table with adaptor with input parameters is updated when one of those input parameters is changed. Isn't it?

I don't get yet what exacly issue you have met with such adaptors?

Been there, done that. I've written a few dozen adaptors already. Not to mention I downloaded e few of these videos. What I am not clear about is how to set up hooks from the the read-only table in order to kick of an action/adaptor.

Even read chinese fortune cookies. I am asking for specifics rather than the motherhood statements and if you have something constructive to contribute, please do so..

Hi Konstantin. Thank you for you suggestion. I attempted to do the same but it just does not work. Looking at the trace, the r_object_id remains empty. here are the screen shots of the two tables definitions. I, also, tried defining a text box in order to display the value of the r_object_id and id just does not work.

I assume the text field CaseHearingObjectId is binded to the same Data Model attribute as the 1st readonly table, isn't it?

If yes,
There is no guarantee one changed field control value will update the value of another field control both binded to the same Data Model attribute. The best way to check the value of some control is to use the calculation formula for the second field control binded to another Data Model attribute.

Try now this: delete text field CaseHearingObjectId and 1st readonly table control. Also delete the appropriate Data Model attribute. Re-create Data Model attribute, re-create readonly table and bind it to the new attribute. After that place any text edit control and in calculation formula use something like this: /dataModel1124/ReadonlyTable1. And don't forget to place the Calculation formula.

If not,

Please, check taskspace.log for any errors. Also try this: open the form, select something in 1st readonly table, save the form, close and re-open it. Is the selected row is still remain selected?

If there is no errors I don't what's happening

Hi Konstantin. Interestingly enough, I tried your suggestion and deleted all the secondary tables and recreated them, using the same adaptors as before. This time it worked. I find it strange. The next step is to display results of adaptor's execution in a text field. I can see adaptor being executed, it uses the 'r_object_id' reference but nothing shows up in the text field. This is the form in question and as you can see tables have data but the "Remarks" text field is empty

I turned on tracing for both adaptors and forms and it seems to execute fine but text field is not populated.

What could be preventing the display of this text?

It is very hard to say something as I don't have all configurations: where the Remark text field is binded, what adaptor is used, etc.

It's starting to get ugly. I had all the tables working nicely as you can see from the sreen shot. After fiddling with the "Remarks" box, tables started to misbehave. Of the 3 dependent tables 1 or 2 would just stop working. Deleting and recreating them does not seem to help anymore. Forms builder is not looking so good at this point.

I am on 6.7 SP1 with the latest patch, I think 8

I went back to my previous version of VM and redid the tables the same way as before and now they're working. I still have a question about driving the contents of a text field in a similar manner to how I set up the read-only tables. As a matter of fact, that's how my troubles have begun with existing read-only tables.
