including jQuery plugin in BIRT

Question

I am trying to include an external jquery plugin in my report. i add the .js file via Resources tab. When I run it, I get an error:  ReferenceError: "jQuery" is not defined. I am not sure how to include it in my report. any ideas as to why I am getting this error?

I remember reading birt has an issue with jquery due to the $ syntax
