Win2k SP3 and/or hotfixes(PRE-SP4) issues
ziggy1
I need to know if there are any known issues regarding installing SP3 or hotfixes(PRE-SP4) on a TeamSite server.
We are experiencing some troubles on our server after installing both SP3 and some hotfixes. "The Interwoven Servlet engine service terminated unexpectedly"(from event viewer).
I can´t seem to find any explanations for this, nothing seems to be logged that indicates the problem.
I don´t want to remove all the security patches, but if there are some known issues regarding some hotfixes I would like to find out how to work around those.

SP3 wasn't around when 5.5.2 was released - as such it was never QA'd with that environment.
I happen to have SP3 on my laptop with TeamSite 5.5.2 SP1 installed - and haven't [yet?] noticed any problems - but it's not an officially supported environment.
I believe that SP3 will probably be in the QA lineup for future releases - but I cannot state that officially (I'm not in QA)

actually I think the problem is with some or one of the hotfixes (PRE-SP4) that have been installed, I guess we should have installed one at a time and tested the whole system after each one...
Does Interwoven not try these kind of things ?

QA is a constant process - running over our entire product line (and potentially new products yet to be announced) over a farily wide array of platform/OS's (e.g., not just Windows 2000, but also Windows 2000 French, Windows 2000 Japanese, etc...) - and testing against various 3rd party programs that we integrate with (DB's, App Servers, etc.)
Dealing with all of this, it is virtually impossible to test all the products on all the new releases / patches / service packs of all the various 3rd party vendors (including OS's like Windows) - in "real time".
Thus, decisions are made, when beginning the QA process for a given product, as to what matrix of environments to test it on - and depending on all these variables (and probably more) some combinations just don't make it in for a particular release.
Will SP3 be included in the QA process? Probably.
When? I don't know.
What can you do about it? Keep in contact with Interwoven Support and let them know what your needs are so that information can get fed back through our Project Managers and QA Managers - and try to verify whether or not the product has been QA'd against that environment *before* upgrading your systems - or enjoy living on the edge.
NOTE: The above is *not* meant to be rude, please do not interpret it that way - I'm simply trying to explain the situation as it exists and probably will exist throughout time.
