How to check if a browsed File Exist or not in DCR

In my DCR, i need to browse some files. Thattext box with browse is not read only, so user can type any path. I need to validate , that the file (he typed or browsed) exists.

I would call a formAPI function which would have a callserver, this callserver will be a cgi program which would check if the file exist or not.
