Handling custom tags on Visual Format Editor

1. Enter the following tag on the Visual Format Editor in TeamSite 6.5 when the 'view source' mode is on:

2. Click on the 'View as wysiwyg' button
3. The tag disappears.

This problem never occurs if the tag was entered as follow:

Can anybody please let me know how to fix this problem?
