"The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded"
Hello,
I am getting the following error message on the Metastorm Engine Log after my C# code tries to handle a web service response that is relatively long:
<>
If the web service response that I get is relatively short, the C# code runs successfully and no errors are produced.
I have been investigating where exactly to change this MaxReceivedMessageSize property but I have not been successful. I have tried increasing the MaxReceivedMessageSize in the following web.config file but it did not resolve the problem:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Metastorm\BPM\ECL.WS\Web.config
I also have tried to following this instruction that I found in the Metastorm v9 Designer Guide:
<>
I did not find this entry on the Metastorm server but I found the following one instead:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Metastorm\e-work\Engine\WCF\Max Received Message Size
I tried changing this one from its default value (6400000) to something bigger but this did not solve the problem.
Would you have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Xavi,
You will need to make changes to the xml under the advanced tab for your web service connection. You will see various values for timeouts and message/response size. Make your change and save the new config.
I have experienced issues with some web services where I have been unable to save changes but these have always been associated with some errors in the default configuration under the advanced tab. On these occassions I have had to make other changes to the config in order to get the changes saved so watch out for this.
Hope this helps.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply.
I changed the 'maxBufferSize' and the 'maxReceivedMessageSize' in the Advanced tab of my web service connection and now it is working as expected.
Thanks a lot!

I have this problem with issue as well, I have tried to change the 'maxBufferSize' and the 'maxReceivedMessageSize' in the Advanced tab to new values but I still get the same error. I have my WS connections in a library but the new values are visible
after I have done a library reload in my project.
Paul - you are mentioning something about errors in the default configuration and that the values don't get saved, could you
elaborate this a bit more please?
Best regards,
/Henrik

Hi Henrik,
I've had a number of web services that give errors when I try to save changes to the advanced configuration. When this happens you will get a message in the message pane. I've not had it on all web services so I assume that it's something particular to some of the web services I've had to import. If you are able to save the configuration changes without such messages then this issue does not apply to your particular web service and your config syntax is correct. (What is strange is that the original config after import was incorrect but only presented an issue when trying to change the config)
What error are you getting in the log when you call your web service? - there are various values and it may be that you need to change one or more of the other parameters.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul!
Thanks for your answer.
It seems to me that everything is saved correctly so my problem either has something to do with me having the
WS connections in a library or that I am using the WS connections in a server side script or maybe both.
I have logged a support request to Metastorm but I have not got any real useful answer yet, like a solution to my problem or a
confirmed bug.
Regards,
Henrik
