ECL.WS + MVC or ASP.NET

Is there an official example of a Visual Studio front end project using ECL.NET WS to communicate with the workflow engine that explains how to use asp.net / mvc web forms and move through the workflow created using the Metastorm IDE? Or any forum users have some scrap projects that they wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks.

  • Hi Aaron,

The SDK download contains a sample ECL client application with source built around the ECL.WS. It's a WinForms application but it does a good job at demonstrating how to authenticate, get various lists and start/submit actions with form fields.

Just for clarity, the SDK contains 3 VS projects under one solution (along with a separate java application). I would recommend looking at the ECL.WS project.

  • Ok, I guess I'm just having trouble finding the right download. I've downloaded the 9.0 SDK but it doesn't contain anything but help files.

  • Sounds like you just downloaded the documentation.

    Try this link:

Be aware that depending on the version of BPM you are developing against, you may also need to patch the SDK. The SDK patches are actually listed under the BPM 9.0.2.X SDK Patches heading since the SDK was originally released alongside that version.

  • This is what I receive.

  • I am also very interested in checking out these projects/examples.

I am getting the exact same error as Aaron when opening the link provided... Could it be that we do not have access to it?

  • Does anyone else have this SDK w/ the VS solution files or a link an appropriate link to the files in the Customer Zone. It seems like the Metastorm BPM category is missing from the download section which is probably where these files are contained. I don't see how I would not have access to download the SDK but am able to download new versions of the entire application.

  • It looks like you both have partial access to what you need from the KC downloads area. Can you send an email to our helpdesk and include your KC username, registered full name and name of your company/organization, someone will forward to the community manager.

  • Ok Tony, will do.. Thanks
