Hovering over action displays folder url

Whenever I hover over any action (or tab for that matter), I'm seeing the url of the folder show up like a popup hint, but I don't have anything specified in the "Description" property for any of the actions.

Has anyone witnessed this?  Does anyone know how to prevent that popup url from displaying?  (It's partially covering up the actions so one has to slide enough to the left or right to view and click a desired action)

(I'm using v9.0.3.1631)

  • You can set the description of the action within the designer and this sets the tool tip.  If you have nothing specified it will default  to the URL.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

  • This was a very irritating issue in 9.0, but appears to have been fixed in 9.1. I have not seen it in 9.1.3.x, let's say.

  • We are still seeing this in version 9.2.0. And, yes, it is still irritating.

I know completists would say we should be setting up tool-tips but to be honest, in most cases, your action names should be self explanatory. If you need to add a tooltip the chances are that it is going to be longer than the action name and therefore obscure the names of adjacent actions - just as unhelpful as the way the pop-up URL stops you from seeing action names.

(And I absolutely refuse to waste my time setting up tool-tips which just repeat the text of the action caption!)

  • It still shows in 9.2.1 -- and even v7.6 tabs, though not currently actions, on W7/IE9 at least -- and its something my users don't like.  I've told them we have no way to control it as its an IE9 thing.  It also does it for labels which are URLs or "a href" links.  (I'm posting a separate question about the links.)

It would be one thing if it was useful tool tips, but its a URL nobody will ever understand and which we don't control.
