mutltiple extended attributes

Does anyone happen to know how to set multiple EA's on a file. For example we are tagging documents with multiples creators sometimes. Is there a way to make sure both values are set. Right know as we try and set multiple EA's they continually overwrite eachother.

My hunch would be need to pass an array to setEA, but I am not sure how to approach this one.

Any ideas on this one would be well received.

As mentioned before, an EA can have at most one value. An EA cannot have more than one value. You cannot assign one EA more than one value.

I cannot say I complete agree with this statement. When we use MetaTagger to tag our files we can set multiple values for one extended attribute.

I might have confused you though. We are trying to set one values, but it will have multiple items separated by commas. Does this make a little more sense?

Just thought I would clarify that one.

MetaTagger is an application that utilizes TeamSite Extended Attributes as a storage medium. I assure you that, for a given revision of a given file in TeamSite, for a given EA name, there is exactly zero or one EA value in the TeamSite backing store. MetaTagger layers some logic over raw EA's to encode and decode its data out of one or more EA's.

If you wish to have comma-delimited EA values, without overwriting an existing value, then you must retrieve the existing value, and then add your new value onto it. Of course, you should be careful that you do not endlessly concatenate strings onto this EA value.

You may find it easier, as has been mentioned here before, to use more than one EA, or to use a very small XML document as your EA value.
