IPTC Metadata extraction for TIFFs

Hi. The photographer I work with uses Capture One software with his digital camera. In this software, he has the option of entering values into IPTC fields, such as "Keywords," "Edit Status," etc. However, he's entered data into every single one of these fields for several different TIFFs, and not one of these values has shown up inside MediaBin. The only way we've been able to get the IPTC data he's entered to show up in MediaBin is if the file is a PSD. However, we need this to work for TIFFs - help? Thanks!

I should check the forums in the correct order :-). I responded in the MediaBin User's forum and was just about to leave a note saying it would probably be better posted in the "Product Line" forum. Oh well, it is early and the coffee has not taken effect yet.

Yes, we support IPTC metadata in Tiffs. The preferred way to store it is via the XMP packet as that is both extensible and has Unicode support (technically the IPTC standard does support Unicode but not how Adobe supports it...they basically want everyone to transition to XMP).

Please supply support with a sample file. Usually the issue turns out to be the tag formation. The tiff library we use can be picky about the declared data types for tags.

The easiest is to send to support@interwoven.com. You can mention that this started in a DevNet thread and that I suggested opening a case to investigate.
