Determine replicant instance's name

Hi there, this is on TS 6.7.1 on Solaris.

I have a DCT that contains a <container> element with "combination='or'". Whenever a new instance of this replicant is added, I want to check whether a certain sub-element was added and do some stuff if it was this particular sub-element.
I want to use the onReplicantAdded event handler to do so.
However, in the function that is called by the event handler I can not find out which of the container's child elements was being added. The item.getName() only returns something like "/some_item/container_name[****]" where "container_name" is the name of the container with "combination='or'" and "****" is a number indicating the position of the newly added replicant instance in the list of instances.

Is there some way to obtain the actual name of the added instance?

I guess getChildren() might help you out. Pg 47 of the TeamSite 6.7 formapi guide.

I tried it, but for some reason, the child element names are just numbers, not the actual name (the value of the <item> element).
However I found another way to let TS do what I wanted, even though this is not as user-friendly and intuitive as I would like it to be.

I think you have to get it into an item and then do a getValue or something.
As it is an Or Container, you'll only have x number of choices.

How did you do it finally?

There is a simple getName() function for all IWItem instances, that function returns the full XPath of the element. Could be usefull

There are few ways to do it.

For example, if (using your notation) item.getName() returns /some_item/container_name[****] then
item.getChildren()[0].getName() will return /some_item/container_name[****]/item_name
