automatic redirection of non friendly URL's

Hi Team,

After configuring FURL for one of our sites, when I type in the non-friendly URL it has to automatically redirect to Friendly URL right? Hope this is the right behaviour, but its not happening in our environment. Is the understanding correct ? If so what do I have to do to achieve this behaviour?

Hi TRV,

That is not the way it works. Hitting a FURL link resolves to the same page as its equivalent non-furl link. Just that, from there on, all links are handled by the application in a friendly manner when FURL is configured ( we see all relevant links as friendly links ).

So if I have a bookmark of the old non-friendly URL link what will happen when I hit that URL?

Hi TRV,

When we configure FURL for alive site, it is possible that users have got some old (non-furl) style urls bookmarked and they are honoured as if nothing has changed. However, if we preview the site from the workspace, all the links ( emanating from smart list, channel navigation component etc.. ) would henceforth be friendly.

Hi TRV,

Page will render normally (without any issue) for non-furl link as well and the links generated on rendered page are FURL links (through ChannelNav, SmartList).

Hi Pulla Rao,

Thanks for your response... So what we have to do to the existing contents which have inline links in it, do we have to do any modificiation to them?

Currently I have changed all the items in the navigation menus in the site to have FURL's so clicking a link from the site navigation menu is not a problem, but the links inside the ContentInstance like inline links, do we have to do anything for them? How to change them to FURL's?
