In Context Management Tool - Not Showing on Certain Pages

We have installed WEM 10.5 using Portal 8.5 to generate our templates. We have created 4 grids that for the most part share the same portlets. In looking at the code for each grid, they are calling the page include for the in context management tool. However, the in context tool will only show on one grid that is used in 2 templates. The other 3 grids are not showing it.

Please note that we have imported these files from a WEM 8.5 installation that was developed by the consultant.

Where would I look to verify that the configurations for each grid and template that would permit us to activate the in context management tool for our other templates used in WEM?

Denis,

Information you have provided is very high level so it’s not really easy to say what could be causing the issue.

But if I would debug this I would start by looking at the Grid assigned to the Navigation Item.

Just a primer of component types involved.

Navigation Item – An end point on a portal site.

Portal Grid Component – It is assigned to a Navigation item and controls the top level of the layout of a page (including Header/Footer). Grid typically includes a portal page in its body section.

Portal Page – They are used to typically manage the layout of portlets on a page (within body typically excluding Header and Footer).

In-context Editing tool functionality is typically enabled in Grid code. It looks like your site may have more than one grid and some of the navigation items use grids without in-context editing code.

Thank you for the information. We do use four grids. I have some added information about what is taking place. The difference between the grid that works and the other three is that for the former we are using vgn-portal:includePageContent to populate the content while for the others we are making portlet calls using vgn-portal:renderPortlet. I am wondering if a conflict resides between the use of the portlet call and the in context management toolbar load that may create a conflict?

Good afternoon

I was able to find a fix for my issue. Somehow our installation of WEM 10.5 and Portal 8.5 would not execute any other runtime code one it has run vgn-portal:renderPortlet tags. I moved the following tags to the top of the page under the <body> tag:

<page:tas-authenticator/>
<page:include-page urlContext="/vgn-ext-templating" pagePath="/in_line/in-context-edit.jsp"/>

This seems to have done the trick where the include is executed before the portlets get loaded.
