Deleting file leaves a hole in workarea

Hi,
Environment: TS6.5, Solaris
I am writing a code to delete file from workarea as well as from staging area and it works fine when file exist in both workarea and staging area and file gets deleted.
After deleting the same file from workarea and staging area, if i recreate the file with same name in workarea and don't submit to staging area and then delete the file from the code, it deletes the file from the workarea but file remain there in a disabled form with cross sign(that usually happen when file exist in staging area).

I am using unlink(filename) command to delete the file in the perl code.

Your explanation is not clear. It does not sound like you are submitting the delete in the 2nd instance. In any event, there are some issues with TS reusing the same name after it has been submitted, deleted, delete submitted and new file with the same name.

I am not submitting the file in the second instance because this file is not there in the staging. But still the file in the workarea shows X mark.

Any ideas how to handle this issue?

You should probably check with Support - it appears that the "hole" left behind by the first deletion / submission is still recognized when you created the file the second time and although you deleted it the second time (without having submitted the re-creation of the file - right?) it sounds like TeamSite is still recognizing it as the previously deleted file.

Have you published this File in its initial incarnation to some Editions? I seem to remember a discussion indicating that in this case recreated File
is considered a hole still, regardless of the fact that it is no longer in Staging
